We all know that Rick will be in the hospital the longest. Ava has already been released and Courtney will more than likely be released in a few days.
I'm sure Courtney will not want to leave Knoxville and come home while Rick is still there. I want to try and help offset the costs for her to stay in Tennesse while he gets better.
I know her cousin (on her mom side) is looking into a condo that rents per week. Either way if she stays there or in a hotel it could get costly.
Let's help them out!
I have set up this 'chipin' account. It is pretty easy, you can use your paypal account, or when it redirects you- you can use a credit or debit card as a "paypal guest". I am going to drive up to TN this weekend and will be able to give what we've collected to them at that time.
(pay no attention to the "goal" amount. I just wasn't sure what to put there. Any amount donated will be helpful and most definitely appriciated!)
If you have any questions about it you can call or text me at 989-213-8394. Or facebook message me if that is easier.

Aunt Deb's Facebook Updates
7/7 12:14am - Thanks for all of the prayers all. God is good. They were all tubing at Abrams Creek in the Smokies National Park when in like two minutes a powerful storm came up. They left the river and started back up the trail but there were so many trees coming down they ran back to the river where there were fewer trees. They were dodging trees from one side but a tree then came from the other side and hit all of them (Rick, Ava, Courtney, Debra (Courtney's mom) and Steve (Courtney's dad) and two other women who were just near them probably just trying to stay close to other people I imagine. Ava is doing fine, she has a hairline pelvic fracture and arm. Courtney has a badly broken wrist and arm and will have surgery Saturday morning on that but is doing well.
The tree had Rick pinned and Steve helped him out, found Debra pulled her out and Rick started searching for Ava. They could not ind her at first but finally tripped over her leg. She was under water and nonresponsive when Rick pulled her out. Steve gave her CPR and brought her back, thank God. They then realized that Rick wasnt there and that he was still in the water. Steve went to get him and he said he couldn't move. Steve asked if he was still stuck in the tree and he said no, he was hurt.
Okay, last try this keeps kicking me off - my amazing son found and pulled our beautiful granddaughter out of the water while he had 10 broken ribs, both shoulder blades broken, a broken pelvis and badly lacerated ear. He is on a ventilator to help with the breathing because of the broken ribs and oh did I mention both of his lungs collapsed. His oxygen levels are doing really well, his blood pressure and heart rate are great. He is sedated and of course on heavy pain meds but will wake up and can respond to questions and the doctors said his spinal cord is find and will just have to wear a neck brace for a while until he heals. It will be a long painful recovery (maybe six weeks) and the biggest worry is the breathing problems that could develop, pneumonia, etc but he is young, strong and a nonsmoker so those are all in his favor. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.
Forgot to repost this when the computer went down. ava is doing great with a hairline fracture in her pelvis and arm and should be released Saturday. Courtney has a badly broken hand and arm and will be having surgery Saturday AM to fix that. Steve was uninjured and Debra was knocked unconcious for a short period and is bruised and sore but otherwise okay. Sadly, one of the two women that was hit by the same tree did not survive, also please pray for her family.
7/8 12am - Hi all - Ava has been released from the hospital with a little soreness in one leg and arm but doing great! Courtney had surgery on both arms (I understood yesterday only one was broke). Her right arm had two breaks between her hand and elbow and one above the elbow and in the wrist. She has two plates and a screw in that arm that will stay. Her left hand had two breaks with now two plates but she should be able to use that hand soon for small lifting and to do some things for herself.
Rick came off the ventilator this AM and every time we go in to see him he improves by leaps and bounds. They are putting his bed to put in him a sitting position which does relieve some of the back pain from his shoulder blades. He is awake, alert and talking. He has told us everything that happened up to the time they got him to the helicopter when he has some blank spots. If you have read the news accounts they are VERY incorrect in spots with really big discrepancies but I will post more details later when I have more time and not at midnight in a hotel :0). They way things happened and who was not hurt and people that just happened to be in specific places at specific times just give you a true proof that God has his hand on their family and he is in control. Thanks for all of your prayers - they are on lists from Traverse City to Knoxville to New Mexico and they are all working :0).
